Five minutes of stress can reduce the body's immune system function
for up to five hours.
Does the above statement surprise you?
Stress. It seems so vague and non-specific. You may be wondering, well, what exactly is stress and why should I be concerned about it?
Most people tend to think of stress as something that happens to us. We think that the situation is the stress. Something does happen to us, however it's what happens on the inside that characterizes it as stress.
Stress is actually the mind and body's response to any demand that disrupts your balance. The cause of stress (a stressor) can be a real event or an imagined one.
The stress response is commonly referred to as the "fight or flight" response. We instinctively go into the fight or flight mode as a form of protection. This natural response is a built-in mechanism that serves our higher good...to protect and preserve our survival and our sense of well-being.
However, when stress becomes chronic, it then becomes detrimental to our health and well-being. Too much stress or no relief from stress leads to exhaustion and a myriad of health problems.
Most people associate chronic stress with high blood pressure and heart disease. However, the negative effects of stress accumulate over time and can cause other problems too, such as depression, bone loss, brain cell destruction, impaired memory, impaired learning, weight gain, muscle atrophy, and blood sugar problems.
Did you know that stress-related disorders account for 75-90% of all doctor visits?
Unmanaged stress has been linked to increasing health care costs by up to 7 times as much as physical risk factors, such as smoking, obesity and lack of exercise.
What a paradox! The stress response that was inherently designed to protect us from harm, is now causing us harm!
What can you do about it?
Get into the habit of shifting out of the stressed place you're in.
Here's how...follow me....
Take a deep breath....close your eyes...and shift your attention and focus...to previous time or event when you remember being filled with love and gratitude...
Now....imagine that you are there....right now...in this moment...
Allow yourself to re-experience those same feelings or love and gratitude...
Repeat after me...."I Love Me Enough to Be Stress and Anxiety Free"
Making a conscious decision... to let go and release the stress you are feeling... and shift to a place of love and gratitude... is the first step
Take a moment right now and think about how stress might be affecting your health. Are you already facing some stress-related disorders? Do you have health challenges that are being magnified by stress?
Watch for my next post when we'll explore how to make stress work for you.
Until then, take a deep breath..... and repeat after me....
"I Love Me Enough to Be Stress and Anxiety Free"
Now, the next step is to....
S--Shift. Once you have shifted your physiology to a state of balance, notice the shift in how your body feels and embrace the calm peaceful feeling. Do you notice that you have less tension in the muscles in your neck and shoulders? Do you notice that your heart rate has slowed down? Has the “knot” in your stomach relaxed? Can you tell that the anxiety and stress you were feeling has shifted?
Congratulations!
By consciously choosing to STOP, OBSERVE, BREATHE, SHIFT… you’ve chosen to listen to your body’s early warning signals… stop the “fight or flight response” that happens automatically… shift out of your old "I'm Feeling Stressed and Anxious Subconscious Programming"....begin balancing all of your internal systems… and “ERASE” the negative effects of stress…and all that happened in just a few heartbeats!!!
Now...repeat after me....I Love Me Enough to Be Stress and Anxiety Free!
You don't realize it yet, but in the next few minutes you're going to learn
why unmanaged stress more deadly than a heart attack.
Actually, a sudden and deadly heart attack is an easier way to die.
I'll prove it to you.
Let's look at the facts....
Scientist have been studying people with stress for a very long time.
They've been looking for the link between mental and emotional attitudes,
physiological health and long-term well-being.
The results of the research are astonishing!
Read these facts carefully.
Three 10-year studies concluded that emotional stress was more predictive
of death from cancer and cardiovascular disease than smoking... people who
were unable to effectively manage their stress had a 40% higher death rate
than non-stressed individuals. H. Eysenck, Br J Med Psychol, 1988; 61(Pt1)
Can you believe that?...emotional stress more predicitve of death from cancer
and cardiovascular disease than smoking!
Want more proof?
According to a Mayo Clinic study of individuals with heart disease,
psychological stress was the strongest predictor of future cardiac events,
such as cardiac death, cardiac arrest and heart attacks. T.Allison et al.
Mayo Clin Proc. 1995; 70(8)
A 3-year analysis of over 46,000 workers from six major U.S.
companies, depression and unmanaged stress emerged as the top two most
costly risk factors in terms of medical expenditures-increasing health
care costs by 2 to 7 times as much as physical risk factors such as smoking,
obesity, and poor exercise habits. R. Goetzel et al, J Occup Eviron Med, 1988; 40(10)
Stop! and think about that for a minute....you could be an obese smoker.. who never
exercised..and your risk factors would still be lower than someone with unmanged
stress or depression.
Amazing!
Now, for another harsh reality...
Job stress costs employers more than $200 billion each year in absenteeism,
tardiness, burnout, lower productivity, higher turnover, worker’s compensation
and insurance costs. National Safety Council, 1995
Depression costs the U.S. $44 billion per year in lost productivity.
National Foundation for Brain Research, 1999
Do you own a business? Have you ever wondered why health insurance for you and
your employees is so expensive?
Ready for the good news....and a shift in your....perspective?
An international study of 2,829 people between the ages of 55 and 85 found
that individuals who reported the highest level of personal “mastery”-feelings
of control over life events-had a nearly 60% lower risk of death compared
with those who felt relatively helpless in the face of challenges.
B. Penninx et al. Am J Epidemiol.1997; 146(6)
In a study of 5,716 middle-aged people, those with the highest self-regulation
abilities were over 50 times more likely to be alive and without chronic
disease 15 years later than those with the lowest self-regulation scores.
R.Grossarth-Maticek & H. Eysenck, Person Individ Diff. 1995; 19(6)
Now, let me ask you a personal question...
Do you understand why a sudden deadly heart attack is an easier way to die
than living with unmanaged stress?
It’s not surprising that stress relief, a state or condition most of us desperately seek, continues to elude us.
We simply don’t have time to find it.
Too many demands and too little time prevent us from discovering the real truth about stress relief. WE ARE the reason we can’t find it.
That is, until we get the unexpected “wake-up” call.
That call often presents as… a personal health crisis… the death of a loved one.. the break-up of a marriage or friendship… the termination of our job… a crisis involving one of our children… or a global crisis like 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina.
And…. if we’re lucky…somewhere in the midst of the “wake-up” call…we WILL wake up and remember…
Remember that…
We have a Choice and a Responsibility to reclaim our life… our health… and our time.
When we CHOOSE to reclaim ourselves, reclaim our life, and our health….
When we CHOOSE to be and do what matters most to us…achieving stress relief is less than a heartbeat away.
Continuing to live our lives in "default mode"....rushing around at breakneck speed...ignoring or overriding that voice whispering inside us saying..."I really need a break"... "I wish someone would help me"....."I have needs too"..."I wish I had more time for me"...
GUARANTEES...we will soon receive a "Wake Up" call...and life as we know it will never be the same.
Today I'm making a conscious decision to listen to that voice and choose me!
I Love Me Enoough to Be Stress Free!

Do you find yourself explaining to others that because of your personality type.....perhaps you see yourself as a Perfectionist... or a Crisis-Maker...or a Dreamer...or a Rebel... or a Worrier...or an Overdoer...you procrastinate?
Well......
Imagine how your life would be if.... you finally knew and understood...how to make that pesky behavior go away...forever.
Take a deep breath....focus.... and allow your subconscious mind... to read the following information very carefully.....and remember....
The # 1 Secret I discovered while doing thousands of hypnosis sessions over the years is this .....
Procrastination is.... a behavior we use.... to distract ourselves and cope ....with a feeling we want to avoid. That feeling can be anything..like....
Or any combination therof.....
When procrastination works for us....it becomes the behavior we continue to use to cope...rather than dealing with the feeling we are feeling... and.... it becomes a habit.
You might be surprised to discover....that the procrastination habit is relatively easy to neutralize or eliminate in hypnosis.
I do it all the time.
If you are on this page because your frustrated and tired of procrastinationg over and over and want to get out of that procrastination loop......
Grab your phone book....and call a hypnotist.
They know exactly what to do and how to help you break that pesky procrastination habit.
If you don't have one locally...or if you're not sure how to find one with great credentials and experience....
Send an email to me Nancy@HeartSyncWellnessCenter.com and be sure to include "Help Me Stop Procrastinating and Find a Hypnotist " in the subject line. I'll help you find the perfect hypnotist.
Don't put it off....you're worth it.....change your destiny today....
Take a deep breath and repeat after me.....I Love Me Enough to Be Procrastination Free!
“Take a deep breath… close your eyes… and relax”
If I had known then what I know now, I would have understood that something as simple as those three hypnotic suggestions can be a wake-up call…the kind of wake up call that transforms your life instantly, dramatically, and irrevocably.
Fortunately for me, I was paying attention. I listened to the voice stirring inside my heart and answered the wake up call when it came....the day I decided I Loved Me Enough to Stop Smoking and Be Smoke Free and transform my destiny.
The day I received the call began like most of my days for more years than I’d care to admit. I woke up, jumped out of bed, lit a cigarette, and took a long drag as I walked out onto my deck to greet the deer grazing in my yard.
Smoking had been a part of my life for more than 37 years. Over the years, I had tried to quit smoking more times than I am able to count on both hands… without success. Patches, gum, inhalers, stop smoking medications, you name it…I tried it. Nothing I tried helped me stop smoking. I’d almost given up hope that anything would.
Now, if you’re like me, and you have tried to break a habit, you know how challenging it can be. You may be able to recall how the struggle feels inside of you….it’s almost as if your heart and your mind are at war. The more you try to avoid thinking about your habit the stronger the urge becomes.
It becomes a vicious cycle. You try. You fail. You feel bad about yourself. You try again. You fail again. You feel bad about yourself again. You keep repeating the pattern until finally… you get frustrated… tired of feeling like a failure… stop trying… and give up.
It matters not whether the “too much behavior” you’re trying to give up is smoking, eating, drinking, working, exercising, golfing, sexing, etc. (you get my point.)
You can end up convinced that you’re doomed to live the life you’ve been living… instead of the life you’d love to live.
I was almost in that place.
Until I decided to give myself one shot. I made an appointment with a hypnotist for a one-on-one stop smoking hypnosis session.
(Pay close attention!….I’m about to get the call.)
Looking back now, I’m not sure why I didn’t ask more questions when I scheduled the appointment.
I guess it’s because the hypnotist sounded calm, confident, and very convincing when I called. She assured me that I could be hypnotized and would become a permanent non-smoker. She told me 99% of her clients stopped smoking permanently with just one session.
I listened to my heart…. (It was pleading with me…please try just one more time)... took a deep breath and a giant leap of faith, and made the appointment. (Ring, ring, ring, ring!)
I walked in a smoker.
I walked out a non-smoking believer.
© A believer in the power of the unconscious mind and hypnosis.
© A believer in trying one more time even if you are completely convinced you will fail again.
© A believer in asking for and listening to the wisdom of your heart for the answers you are seeking.
© A believer in listening for and responding to a “Wake-Up” call.
What I thought I knew then and I’m convinced of now, is that each of us will get a wake up call…in fact, probably more than one.
And… if you are not paying attention…you’ll miss the call.
If you’re stuck in the destructive vicious cycle of try, fail, stop trying, give-up, and just live a life of quiet desperation…chances are you will miss the wake-up call…the wake-up call you’ve been hoping for … the one that will transform your life instantly, dramatically, and irrevocably.
If you’re moving through life at breakneck speed… allowing your life to run on autopilot…forgetting to stop, breathe, and live in the moment… chances are you will miss the wake-up call…the wake-up call you’ve been praying for … the one that will transform your life instantly, dramatically, and irrevocably.
Wake-up and pay attention… you don’t want to miss the call!
How will you know when you have an incoming call?
Here’s what you might want to consider that worked for me….
Slow down… go to a quiet place, and just listen…
Listen for that quiet little voice inside your heart…(ring, ring, ring!)
You’ll recognize that voice…it’s the one deep inside you that keeps whispering…
“Take a chance”
“Please try again”
“I believe it really will work this time”
And, if that doesn’t provide you with a ring, ring, ring…
“Take a deep breath…close your eyes…and relax….”
